National Day of GiveCamp - Nashville - Oct 21 to 23

Thanks for a great weekend!

We'd like to thank our 50+ volunteers, nonprofit representatives, sponsors and everyone else that contributed to making Nashville GiveCamp a huge success.  Our volunteers used a plethora of technologies to help seven local nonprofits.  We were able to complete all the projects as scoped and look forward to hearing feedback from the nonprofits as these systems are brought online.  We'll send out public facing sites through our Twitter account.

Thanks, everyone!

If you want to volunteer you time, talent or treasure for the next Nashville GiveCamp, let us know.

If you are from a nonprofit - start planning for 2012's GiveCamp (tentatively to be held the 3rd week of October).  You can submit a proposal at anytime. If you meet quarterly, here is a straw man for getting a proposal in time for next year's event:

  • 2011 Q4 - Announce, Brainstorm Ideas, Pick a Champion/Chair
  • 2012 Q1 - Pick Idea to Propose; Set goals for project
  • 2012 Q2 - Finalize proposal details; delegate someone to submit proposal; submit proposal
  • 2012 Q3 - Make plans for representatives to attend event; Review Goals
  • 2012 Q4 - Celebrate your completed GiveCamp project

Final, Final Details

The GiveCamp Hotline is 615.879.7533.  If you cannot reach a GiveCamp volunteer or need to speak with someone running the event (you're locked out, lost, etc), you can call that number and speak with someone at the event.  It will be minded from registration on Friday through the after event on Sunday.

Still not sure what team you are on? Check this out for details.

Still not sure how to get to the Goodwill Training Center? 937 Herman St. 37208

We've got food on the way, swag bags and some great giveaways - including two tickets to the Taste of Nashville for some hardworking volunteer.

Don't forget the folks that made all this possible, locally and nationally.

We'll see you Friday after work for the kick off meeting!

Want to know more about the nonprofits we are helping? Here's the list.

Final Details for this weekend

GiveCamp is almost here.  Do you have your laptop and snuggies ready for a great weekend?Below is a quick message to our participants and our schedule for this weekend.

Sponsors
Thanks to all of our great sponsors for making this year's GiveCamp happen.  Pay homage to our local sponsors and see who threw in nationally here.

Volunteers
If you have not received an email with details about your team, one will be coming soon.   If you are the Project Manager for your team, we recommend an introduction email to your team and a call with your nonprofit representative - at the least.  Ideally, you will talk with your nonprofit representative, your team and have a good idea of what you are building when you arrive on Friday.  The more prepared you are, the more your team can accomplish.

Nonprofits
We cannot wait to see you this weekend.  We also cannot stress how important it is that you come prepared.  If you are rebuilding website, bring account information for your existing website hosting, high quality images, logos and any current marketing materials.  If you are getting setup on donor tools, bring a copy of your current donor database/excel file/list on a napkin. We will also have some time reserved for you with specialists in IP law, social media and a network guru.

Event Team Meeting - Tuesday September 13

Next Meeting: Tuesday, 9/13 from 5 to 6pm at the Flying Saucer

We had a great team meeting on Tuesday, 8/30. We finalized our venue with naming a treasurer (Leah Gilliam of IT Conduit), a Sponsorship Leader (Lora Stevenson Obrotha), our Charity Coordinator (Chris McPherson of Firefly Logic) and tasked Josh Drummond of ICV Solutions to be our utility knife/logistics/go to guy. Everyone has a list of To-Do's and a ton of energy to make GiveCamp a bigger success than our last event.

Email info@nashvillegivecamp.org to let us if you are interested in helping with Sponsorships, Charities, Volunteers or Marketing.

Event Team Meeting - 8/30

Email info@nashvillegivecamp.org to let us know how you can help.

The Volunteer Challenge

We have a goal of helping TEN nonprofits this fall. To do that, we need at least 50 volunteers. If we get more than that, we will do our best to help even more deserving organizations.

To help get that number where we need it, we are putting out a challenge to area recruiting firms. You know people, right? You have people looking for opportunities and a chance to sharpen skills? We need you to reach you to reach out to your network and send volunteers our way.

Guidelines of our friendly referral competition

  • Volunteers should list your firm name in the 'comments' field of the volunteer sign up form
  • Your firm gets one point for every volunteer sign up mention through September 15
  • The cutoff for referrals is Sept 15
  • Your firm gets a bonus point for every 'early bird' volunteer sign up mention through September 2nd
  • Firm with most points receives listing, link and logo on the sponsorship page (minimum of 5 points)
  • The winner will be announced on Sept 16

Send folks to the volunteer sign up form and be sure those signing up put your firm's name in the comments field.
